Music – Falling Slowly from the Once Soundtrack

Falling Slowly from the Once Soundtrack

I don’t know you but I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me and always fool me
And I can’t react
And games that never amount
To more than they’re meant
Will play themselves out.
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice, You have a choice
You’ve made it known
Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
The moods that take me and erase me
And I’m painted black
Well you have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It’s time that you won
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice, You have a choice
You’ve made it known
Falling slowly sing your melody
I’ll sing along

“Falling Slowly” is an Academy Award winning song off of the Once soundtrack, sung by  Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. If you haven’t seen the movie, I highly recommend you watch it immediately. The story (a kind of, sort of love story between an Irish busker and a Czech pianist) is amazing. The music is amazing. You will not be disappointed.

Oh and if you get the opportunity, you should check out Glen’s band, The Frames, and the work that Glen and Marketa did together under the name, The Swell Session. And I also high recommend the version of this song that Kris Allen did when he was on American Idol. (Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze did it again a year later but Kris’ version is untouchable in my opinion).

About Ciarrai

Hi. My name is Kerry but here online I tend to go by the Gaelic version of my name, Ciarrai. I am a woman in my mid-30's who lives on Long Island, NY, with my husband, Rob, several guitars, a Nikon D40, more yarn, beads and books than I care to admit to and a cat who has a million nicknames and quite a few theme songs. I have a B.A. in Psychology and have recently returned to college to pursue a teaching degree so that I can eventually get a job as a High School English teacher. In addition to my major obsessions (Reading, Beading, Knitting, Music and Photography), I also enjoy playing Board Games, going to Renaissance Faires, Museums and Broadway Musicals.
