Very Different Styles

Today, I get to pick out the materials for my next round of jewelry designs. I have a very specific budget and I need to pick up some staples that I am running low on. That pretty much leaves me with the money to get the supplies for one project and two very different designs are current duking it out in my head.

The first is very earthy, casual, fun – involving a pendant made out of rusted iron, blue and brown crazy lace agate beads and copper accents.

The second is dressy and frilly, involving red garnet, gold filigree and pearls.

Sometimes when I have this kind of conflict, I can nudge my designs so that the materials overlap a little bit and that brings down the costs and lets me do both. I don’t think that is happening this time around.

So what do you guys think? Fancy / Frilly or Earth Mother-y? Which way would you go?

About Ciarrai

Hi. My name is Kerry but here online I tend to go by the Gaelic version of my name, Ciarrai. I am a woman in my mid-30's who lives on Long Island, NY, with my husband, Rob, several guitars, a Nikon D40, more yarn, beads and books than I care to admit to and a cat who has a million nicknames and quite a few theme songs. I have a B.A. in Psychology and have recently returned to college to pursue a teaching degree so that I can eventually get a job as a High School English teacher. In addition to my major obsessions (Reading, Beading, Knitting, Music and Photography), I also enjoy playing Board Games, going to Renaissance Faires, Museums and Broadway Musicals.
