Look What I Made: Butterfly Lace Necklaces

UPDATE: The Lace Butterfly Necklaces and the Lavender Rose Earrings are now available on Ciarrai Studios

I am so excited to share these new pieces with you guys. So excited that when it rained all week (robbing me of the natural light that I like to use to photograph items), I made this Butterfly themed Treasury to help tide me over.

I really love how dainty and feminine lace applique necklaces are and so I couldn’t wait to make some myself. Of course, I have already made the Mina Harker Necklace – which also uses a lace applique but in a wildly different style. This time, I went a little softer, using small white butterflies as my focal point. I made three variations:

Lace Butterflies Group

One with blue Swarovski pearls:

Blue Lace Butterfly 2

One with pink Swarovski pearls:

Pink Butterfly

And one with Swarovski pearls in a mixed pastel palette of lavender, ivory and pink:

Pastel Butterfly
And then, I was still so excited that I made these earrings to go with the pastel version:

Lavender Rose Earrings

I just love how sweet these are and so versatile too! I can see them being worn with my nieces’ Easter outfits (or even just a sweet little dress). I can see ladies my own age wearing them with a pretty blouse or sweater and a pair of jeans. I can even see them working as a beautiful addition to a prom dress or bridal wear!

I have to confess that I think I may have gotten a little bit obsessed. I have more lace appliques on their way so I can make more lace necklace designs.

About Ciarrai

Hi. My name is Kerry but here online I tend to go by the Gaelic version of my name, Ciarrai. I am a woman in my mid-30's who lives on Long Island, NY, with my husband, Rob, several guitars, a Nikon D40, more yarn, beads and books than I care to admit to and a cat who has a million nicknames and quite a few theme songs. I have a B.A. in Psychology and have recently returned to college to pursue a teaching degree so that I can eventually get a job as a High School English teacher. In addition to my major obsessions (Reading, Beading, Knitting, Music and Photography), I also enjoy playing Board Games, going to Renaissance Faires, Museums and Broadway Musicals.
